Local Hazard Mitigation Plans
Mitigation is defined as actions taken to reduce the risk from hazards. The local mitigation plan forms the groundwork for communities to reduce disaster losses and break the cycle of repetitive damage. The local mitigation plan is also required as a condition for receiving certain types of non-emergency disaster assistance, including funding for mitigation projects.
